Restoring the Haven | Renovation, Interiors and Lifestyle Blog | Miranda Profile Picture I am a wife and Mum to three boys and a girl. From a very young age I knew that I wanted four children, although I would quite happily have had more. That said I think I had become a little scared of being anything other than a Mother, and it has taken some time to realise that I can be me as well.

Learning to be kind to myself is something I am working on, and part of re-discovering myself is developing this renovation, interiors and lifestyle blog – and seeing where it takes me. Restoring our home is a joint passion between my husband and I and restoring me is a welcome part of that process.

I can’t be bothered to post an update on the hou I can’t be bothered to post an update on the house because frankly this is what I’m all about. Total jingle bell goals. Isn’t she magic. 🎄 (If you don’t watch till the end we can’t possibly be friends)

We have pictures of our children that have never been hung up because we have always been ‘waiting to build’. About to lose my bedroom as well and it feels stressful in honesty, but I do know that I cope a lot better if I feel organised, so for now here are my aliums instead of my boxes.

Reality....windows just hanging in there, having t Reality....windows just hanging in there, having to dig in to the existing wall to repoint it, cracks that need repointing, weird wooden beams discovered that run through an existing window frame. It’s all feeling quite overwhelming and my husband said dismally earlier today that we won’t be in the new kitchen until next year. It’s tough this building lark isn’t it!? So I’m not going to sugar coat it with some positive quote. It’s all a bit 🤯. I DO appreciate how fortunate we are to be even doing this but it’s still a bit meh😉 .

It’s the start of the school holidays and I am f It’s the start of the school holidays and I am finally taking a break. Naturally I have the sorest of throats having been fine all lockdown. Anyways, we have some holiday plans and I’m picking up a tent bought on eBay and we are off to do some wild camping. Treats like this signify holiday time in this house along with the much begged for chocolate cereal. Once it’s gone it’s gone though kids! Our very skilled bricklayers (too simple a term really as they are so expert at their profession) are busy pointing and restoring, so rest may not be so easy. Still, no looming pressure of long shifts is really lovely😊

House update. We have a partial roof on Phase II o House update. We have a partial roof on Phase II of the build. That huge window will have a window seat with two large frames that open out. (If you’re old enough think Helena Bonham Carter in the magical Room with a View) The very vertical scaffolding is there to scare the pants off me and to reconstruct the roof of our present bedroom and rebuild it so that we can alter the roof line. We will have to move out. Husband suggested we sleep in the sitting room-not happening 🤷‍♀️🥺 .

These are my absolute favourite flowers. Delphiniu These are my absolute favourite flowers. Delphiniums, scabiosa and cornflowers. I had them in my wedding bouquet and over the archway of the church. On Saturday we had our 22nd wedding anniversary, although it feels impossible that so many years have passed. Anyway, I’ve decided I need to get back to rotating between house, flowers and food, now that life is (🤞) settling down for a while, so here’s a start. Big love everyone. 💜😘
