I didn’t know it would be this hard. I didn’t I didn’t know it would be this hard. I didn’t realise that when you looked after your child for 19 years your heart would hurt this much when they finally cut the last of the apron strings.
.
Don’t get me wrong I am absolutely delighted for him. After a non year off, moving to Cornwall and probably having the best summer ever and being completely free and independent is absolutely the right thing and I am so happy that he’s doing it and already having a lovely time. The sun is shining and he’s made a little home in his caravan and he has work, so it’s flipping brilliant. And I could not be prouder of this incredible and beautiful boy of mine. He teaches me every day how to be a better person and his maturity, integrity and profound wisdom and strength is quite something.
.
But I miss him so badly and it’s taking all my strength not to ask him to come back home. When he was little I didn’t understand why people found it hard when their children left home because it all felt like such hard work, and I thought I had no identity anymore. Well I’m here to remind you to devour this time because it’s really really short 💙

I love cooking and I love making things for other I love cooking and I love making things for other people. I wish I had more time to do just that and maybe one day I will live that little dream. For now my biggest boy is fleeing the nest and living my other dream - to live in Cornwall. I am both heartbroken and joyful (for him) in equal measures. He is one of my five rocks and I am immensely proud of him for his kindness and his deep respect for others. In two weeks he starts out on a new exciting adventure in my beloved Cornwall, in the very village we have brought him to since he was born. I shall miss him deeply and if I’m honest cutting those apron strings is harder than I thought 💙 #proudmama #rockyroad
As Birthdays go this one was pretty special and my As Birthdays go this one was pretty special and my precious family made that happen. We’ve had the most incredible weather and our hearts have been recharged with love and hope. I have an extra couple of days with my eldest and I know the others are gutted to be returning to school. Thank you to my favourite place in the world-I have missed you and I promise not to leave it so long again. #northcornwall #polzeath #rock #holiday
This is a pretty exciting and massive update on th This is a pretty exciting and massive update on the house. Last week our beautiful bedroom window was fitted at the same time as our kitchen window. We spent ages considering how to make them work for us and we are really pleased. They both hinge completely back (on the wall upstairs and fixed panes downstairs). BUT the really big news is that the bifold doors had their first fix on Saturday. We are almost dry-just the back door to fit when we return from holiday. This week will be spent finally relaxing and applying for the last slug of money-no turning back now😊.

I cannot tell you how full of dust my house is. Th I cannot tell you how full of dust my house is. The kitchen wall is DOWN 🤸‍♀️🤸‍♀️🤸‍♀️ so I thought I’d be a proper mum and make some pink sprinkle tray bake for after school treats. I can confirm it was really good - and I don’t particularly like cake.

Friday evening. One child watching Mama Mia with a Friday evening. One child watching Mama Mia with all her friends on some fancy system where they all watch the film virtually together, two little boys watching Dr Dolittle (I had recommended Turner and Hooch which is an epic film but I’m very old) and the other two are also busy on screens. My husband just told me very casually that he has his vaccine booked for Thursday 🤸‍♀️and my 19yr old is apparently skeptical about having it when the time comes (he will, I promise you ).
.
I don’t want to be dismal, but the last 7/8 weeks has been really really unbelievably hard for myself and my incredible colleagues. I can’t describe just how frightening and emotional it has been, but it has. The hardest thing I’ve ever done (harder than the first wave by far) so please please don’t do what all the children and parents did after school today and congregate in the park. THINK, please think. It’s not over and for all the clapping and the loveliness, please remember how terribly hard it has been on the front line. Our hearts and our absolute resolution to do the best job we can are a bit weary right now, so please stay safe and be safe, and if you get offered the vaccine please say, yes please😊 Big love ❤️ #covidvacccine #tulips #flowers #nhs
